ER Workforce Development

In 2017 Matrix was commissioned by the Department of Social Services to provide capacity building and training to the ER sector. During this project Matrix co-designed a survey to find out more about the ER workforce.

157 out of 319 DSS funded organisations responded to the survey about the training needs of their workforce, 70% of whom are volunteers and 80% women.

80% responded that they prefer training to be delivered in blocks of 1 day and surprisingly 54% said they would like to access online training.

The most requested training topic was managing clients with complex needs and difficult behaviours followed by conducting assessments for people in crisis.
